Furnace: Electric Furnaces and Gas Furnaces

gas and electric furnaces

Integrated Mechanical sells both gas furnaces and electric furnaces for residences. We install, repair and maintain your furnace, anywhere in the lower mainland. We have the knowledge and experience to help you decide which is best for you.

We carry fully modulating furnaces with greater efficiency and the ultimate comfort. The furnaces we carry are built for economically friendly comfort. A lot of the home furnaces we install operate at over 95% efficiency. Therefore 95% of the fuel you pay for is being converted into heat for your house.

Furnace: What is the Difference between Gas and Electric?

There are major differences between gas and electric furnaces. For one thing, the life span of an electric furnace can be almost twice as long as that of a gas furnace. Higher quality furnaces use a Variable speed ECM fans to add to the electrical efficiency of the furnace by using up to 70% less electricity than typical motors.

On the other hand, a gas furnace can be easier to run and they require low maintenance. An electric furnace burns fuel to produce heat and is therefore not as environmentally friendly as a gas furnace, and the resulting heat isn't distributed as evenly throughout the home or building. Also, customers may find that overall, it's more costly to have an electric furnace instead of a gas furnace.

However, when looking to buy a furnace, customers should look for the highest Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) rating. This rating describes the efficiency of the fuel burning process. Typically, the higher the rating, the less fuel will be burned and this translates into more money in the customers' pockets. Efficiency ratings must not be lower than 92% and it can be as high as 98%.

While the cost of an electric furnace may be cheaper overall ranging from approximately $2,500 to $3,000 in comparison to gas furnaces, with prices ranging from approximately $4,000 to $6,000 - an electric furnace will cost more overtime due to electricity costs.

We use a termination for furnaces called a Pancake Vent, instead of having 2 pipes stick out.
